Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to information about you when you read Celebrate2004 or write to us. The short version: very little is collected, nothing is sold, and we do not follow you around the web.

Who is responsible

Celebrate2004 is an independent online magazine run by a small editorial team. For any question about this policy or your data, write to mail@celebrate2004.org.

A static site without tracking

Every page on this site is a ready-made file delivered to your browser. There are no user accounts, no comment sections, no login forms and no shopping basket. We do not use analytics tools, advertising networks, social media plug-ins, tracking pixels or fingerprinting of any kind. We do not build profiles of readers and we do not know which articles you personally have read.

Your cookie-banner choice

When you first visit, a small notice asks whether you accept or decline optional storage. Whatever you choose is saved in your browser's local storage so the notice does not appear on every page. That single entry stays on your device, is never sent to us and contains nothing that identifies you. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data. Details are on our About Cookies page.

Hosting and server logs

To deliver the site, our hosting provider's servers automatically process technical data whenever a page is requested. This typically includes your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser type and the referring address. These logs are needed to deliver pages, keep the service secure and investigate faults. They are kept by the hosting provider for a limited period and are not used by us to identify or profile visitors. Processing them rests on our legitimate interest in keeping the magazine reachable and safe from misuse.

When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you put in your message. That information is used for one purpose: reading your note and writing back. We keep correspondence for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a sensible record of corrections, and then delete it. Please do not send us details about your health; we cannot advise on personal situations and would rather not hold that kind of information.

Sharing

Reader details are not a product here: Celebrate2004 has never sold or bartered them and never will. Information is shared only with the service providers needed to host the site and handle email, or where the law requires it.

Your rights

Data protection laws, including the GDPR in Europe, give you a set of rights over your information. You can:

  • ask whether any of your details sit in our inbox, and receive a copy of whatever is there;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased where there is no reason for us to keep it;
  • ask us to pause or stop using it;
  • take your data with you in a machine-readable file, where the law provides for this;
  • lodge a complaint with the data protection regulator in your country.

To use any of these rights, email us and we will respond as quickly as we can, and within the time limits set by law.

Children

Celebrate2004 is written for adults. Our articles are aimed at grown-up readers, and we never set out to gather details from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If the way we run the site changes, this page will be updated. Please also read our Site Terms.
